The first days, Tel Aviv

27 - 28/04/2012

Yesterday I left Belgium and exchanged it for Israel. In Zaventem the staff of 'El Al', the flight company, wanted an interview with every passenger. They asked a lot of questions about my studies, my luggage and the reason of my trip to Israel. It was quite intimidating! Once I past the customs, an employee of El Al asked me of my name is Van Autreve. Apparently there was a problem with the charger of my camera. I have to leave it in Belgium...But suddenly, just before we took off, a man came to me and gave me back my charger.
After a flawless flight we arrived around 5 p.m. in Tel Aviv and took the taxi (it wasn't possible to take the train because of the Sabbath) to our hostel. After dinner we discovered the city. It's very busy and touristic with huge buildings.

This morning, after breakfest, we went to Jaffa. We walked about 30 minutes before we arrived.
The view over Tel Aviv is amazing (see photo). The first thing we saw was the beautiful Abrasha Park. By chance we saw a Jewish wedding. The photographer was taking pictures of the bride, groom, family and friends. In the Park you can find the Wishing Bridge. You have to touch your zodiac sign and look at the sea and your wish will come true. We'll find out about that later...
Afterwards we saw the St. Peter's church, the first Jewish hostel in Jaffa, the port and the Armenian church.
Tonight, around 8 p.m. we will leave Tel Aviv and continue our internship in Haifa.
