English Day

From the beginning of the week we had been working on one thing and one thing only 'English Day'. As a final to our project there was a English Day planned on Saturday! All the pupils would sing a song and do a dance, off course English songs. My 6th grade class had to sing 'Waving Flag', it's the world cup song from 2010. We started in the beginning of the week with practice and they learned it very quickly, I said them to practice at home and it worked out well. In my spare time I helped the others with there dance. The 3th grade did the play of 'Brown Bear', the 4th grade 'The Big Carrot', the 5th 'New York' and 'Hannah Montana' and the other 6th grade did the Waka Waka song. We didn't teach much in this week but we talked a lot with the children in English so they could practice there English. Normally they didn't had school on friday but still they came to do the rehearsel, it was very nice of them to come on there free day. The rehearsel was good and so were looking forward to the big day. The school did a very good job to decorate everything and the parents were very happy. We made stations at the school with presentations of the countries Australia, USA, Jamiaca and Ireland. The children presented there country to the parents. Finally the show started after some words of the principal and all the volunteers got a certificate for there work. The show went really good, all the pupils did there best and the parents enjoyed it. After the show a spontanious 'dapka' started and we were all celebrating the perfect day.

I really felt the children enjoyed there 2 weeks with us and they really trained there English during the two weeks, i'm actually looking forward to find another project like this in the future to help with.
