Easter @ Nazareth!

On Sunday, the 5th of May, the Christians in Israel celebrated Easter. This was the perfect occasion for us to go to Nazareth and celebrate Easter as well. After a long drive with the bus we went to the church were Jesus was born and there we attended to the service. It was very special to be there. The church was really impressive, really big, and the art in the church was amazing. Also there were a lot believers, young and old, present in the church. This is completely different than in Belgium. Accept for the believers there were, unfortunately, also a lot of tourists. When the service was going they still were taking pictures. It was very annoying and we found it very disrespectful.

After the service we moved on to the cave of Mary. In that cave the angel Gabriel appeared to Mother Mary and told her that she will have a son. It was a very peaceful place and the moment really moved me. People were sitting in front of the cave staring at the small altar they build there. Praying, thinking, just sitting there.

The rest of the day we explored Nazareth by foot. We visited a lot of churches and enjoyed the sun. We wandered trough the small streets and had a lot of fun!

In the afternoon we went home. When we arrived back in Tamra we were very exhausted, but still we prepared some lessons, because at Monday we had to go to school again…
