Time flew the last two days! First some more details about Tawfeek's family. He has two brothers and two sisters, his father works with the union and the whole family Abu Leil exists off 7000 people. The total population in Ein Mahel is 13 000. Yesterday I found out a fun fact, Ein Mahel has the highest percentage of deaf people on thousand people.
On tuesday we went to take a strawl along the beach in Haifa and visited the mall. They are the same like in Belgium but without the security on the entrance that checkes you. In the evening it started raining, it was called 'dusty rain' because it carries sand from the desert. We went to eat a typical food: shoarma. It was like a big sandwich with meat and vegetables, hereafter we went to Abulaabode to drink some coffee and tea and to chat up. Abulabode is a good friend of Tawfeek, he's the father of Abode. So the father of Tawfeek is called Abulatawfeek. It was a long day and we could use some rest because tomorrow we were going to the school for my first schoolday.
Arriving at school people were directly staring at me 'Who is the brown haired curly guy?'. Blondbrown curly hair is very rare so there was no chance it would just blend in. In the first lessons I presented myself and Belgium to the students and they asked some questions. They were suprised that English isn't my mothertongue.
In the afternoon we were invited to Abulabode for a typical barbecue, the people here are so friendly! At the end we were stuffed and Tawfeek slept for three hours while I watched some TV with Abode. Abode was leaving in the morning to Tel Aviv to continu his studies of Economics.
The big moment I was waiting for was yet to come: the wedding! Tawfeek's uncle served the sweets 'Kneffa' on the wedding so he helped him. I accompanied Feras (a friend of Tawfeek) and his deaf brother. All the people wanted to know from where I was so Feras told it again and again and again and again 'Belgiqe'. For the next wedding we would make a sign with 'Belgium' on it so people would see it. We ate some rice and lamb meat. Afterwards we enjoyed the wedding, the groom and his father were carried on a table above the heads and they started dancing in a circle. Before that all the guests were already dancing in a circle and guided by a leader. I think it was gonna be a long night! Pictures will follow!
See you at the next wedding!
Jens
